Happy Birthday, Aries: Understanding and Appreciating the Aries Personality
Happy Birthday, Aries! First to rush in where angels fear to tread, first to fight for the right to party, first to land on their feet and help pull others up by their bootstraps, Aries is here to remind all of us that if you’re not fueled by passion, then what’s the point.
Aries knows how to take the arrow of desire on the glyph of their ruler, Mars, and point it toward whomever or whatever ignites their firebrand imagination. And once you feel the flame of that arrow, it’s hard to resist or run away.
An Aries in the thrall of some cause, commotion, or conquest is a sight to behold as their nostrils flare, their eyebrows arch, and that hard-headed Ram brain strategizes like a five-star General. Aries sometimes get unfairly tagged as an impatient child, having temper tantrums when they don’t get their way or when their cosmic order from the Universe doesn’t arrive when they think it should. But as the first sign of the zodiac—as the energy that initiates—their love for the present moment is written in their DNA. First-come, first-served is a policy they embrace.
Aries is not afraid to put in the hard work to achieve their goals…it’s just that their motivation is often driven by immediate and tangible results.
If something or someone truly matters to them, they will show up at the crack of dawn and get the job done (often fueled by a gallon of coffee). Aries understands the importance of taking inspired action, and their mantra is “how soon is now?”— but they never wait for the answer, and just go ahead and do whatever they want anyway—on their own timetable.
Madcap, maddening, and mouthy, Aries will test your patience and your tolerance for the truth (but really, they’re telling you for your own good).
Aries people are a force to be reckoned with—but it’s important to remember that as hard-headed as they might be, they are far from being hard-hearted. Often too loyal and trusting in youth (and burned by betrayal), Aries learn early on how to protect their heart behind the Mars’ warrior shield and a stubborn independence that is admirable, but possibly isolating. Aries’ challenge is to allow themselves to be vulnerable with people who—over time—earn their trust.
Aries reminds us that not all heroes wear capes…they’re right there alongside us everyday, fighting the good fight even when the situation may seem hopeless.
